I am really excited to announce that I've joined the Women's Philanthropy Institute as a Council member. WPI is the leading institution in the country that focuses on women's philanthropy. They are located within the Lilly School of Philanthropy at Indiana University.

This is an incredible opportunity for both the Women's Philanthropy Institute and me! I was first introduced to the amazing team at WPI when I spoke at the #WomenLeading Philanthropy Symposium in Chicago this past May.

I worked really hard on the talk I gave with Susan McPherson and many attendees said it was one of the highlights of the conference.

See our SlideShare entitled Leading Impact for the Future of Women's Philanthropy.

After the conference was over, I kept in touch with the team at WPI and sent over feedback on the conference as a whole and started a dialogue with them about what they could do to bring in a younger demographic and introduce them to the women's philanthropy movement and the organization.

I was happy to provide my insights, I believe in their mission and the work they do and immensely admire the women I met at the conference who were on the Council.

I was so thrilled when I got the call asking if I would accept a nomination to be named to the Council for the term starting in 2014. I was unanimously voted in and am thrilled! It's a very illustrious group of women and I'm excited to bring a different perspective to the table.

Along with advising the WPI staff on campaigns and outreach, I'm excited to continue my work advocating for women. This platform is an important one, women are a huge part of both where funds are directed and also how donations are made. WPI covers both sides of the coin, how can we encourage more women to step up and be philanthropists and also how can we better direct funds that will help women in need.

To that extent there are exciting research opportunities in the works. The first public campaign I can talk about is an awareness and fundraising campaign coming up on Giving Tuesday. More on that to come.

Thank you to the entire WPI staff and the current Council for this incredible opportunity!
