Guide to The Causemopolitan

A guide to my most searched and read content.

Welcome! I’m so excited that you found The Causemopolitan. The site was started by me 6 years ago to share experiences I had while volunteering and traveling abroad. People kept coming back and reading what I was writing so even when I came back to the US, I continued to write about nonprofits, ways to give back in your community and around the world and about how to become the best version of yourself you could possibly be. With hundreds of posts, there is a lot to read and explore. Here is a guide to some of my most searched and read content.

Saying Goodbye

Sometimes even good things come to an end. After 6 years, this is my farewell post on The Causemopolitan. I’m moving on. I’m so proud of what I’ve built here and the writing. I’ve been honest, I’ve been real, I’ve opened up my own heart in ways I never could have imagined. This is a most heartfelt and bittersweet goodbye. Everyone on this site - for the time being - will stay live. The Giving Manifesto will stay live.

Kiss and Make Up

I have a confession. This year has been a doozy. I was hit with a lot of loss this year and no one was more surprised than me to when I found myself keeping tabs on who didn’t ask or inquire about how I was doing. It’s terrible. I feel really guilty about it, but it’s true. A lot of people did ask how I was doing, how my family was holding up, how my friends were coping and many of those people are not “close friends” but pe…

My Women’s Equality Party Vote Is Dedicated To…

When I was a little kid and it was just me and my mom, one of the things I remember most is how much she worked. My mom was always working and she had an army of family members and babysitters that took me to school and picked me up from school when she had early meetings or her day ran long. My mom was an entrepreneur building a business from scratch. I remember sitting at the dinner table and her telling me that she was working so hard because she was the boss. And being the boss wa…

Road To 50

I hit a big milestone last Friday. 50! Not 50 years old, I’ll save that for another 15 years. 50 states. It’s a goal — a bucket list item — that I always had in the back of my mind as something I wanted to do. I’ve driven cross-country twice and taken countless trips through New England, the South and the West Coast. A few years ago I went to look at what states I had left and realized I ha…

You're Invited! ASPCA Young Friends Benefit

As many of you know, adopting a puppy last fall from a shelter has been one of the best things I have ever done in my life. Taylor and I are so in love with Piper and she is frankly so in love with us. I never imagined how much a pet would change our lives. I was really excited at the prospect of getting a dog, obsessed really, but I didn’t have a dog growing up so I really didn’t understand compl…

Introducing DinnerMode!

I’m really excited to share the launch of a new national food movement I’ve created called #DinnerMode. I introduced #DinnerMode during a presentation I gave at #INBOUND14 last week on their BOLD stage. BOLD is HubSpot’s TED and it was a huge honor to speak to a room of 500+ attendees during a 10,000 person conference. Here are my slides:

Spokesperson Announcement!

I have a really exciting announcement to share. I have partnered with Bayer Healthcare as a spokesperson for a really great new campaign and initiative they’ve launched called The Timeline Project. What I love about this project is that it’s about helping women discover their best selves. That’s an incredible thing for anyone to tackle, and a really amazing thing for a brand to participate in. Our choices, as w…

Welcome To September

I have a few really exciting projects I’m launching this fall - some for clients and some for myself. That’s the way it is for a lot of us, working to create the life we want but also pay for the life we have. I’m lucky because I have amazing clients and I love the work we do together. Most of my projects combine social media and social good and that’s my sweet spot. Here are some quick updates to share… Did you love camp as a kid? Hate it? I did …

Best places to buy books in NYC

As an indomitable book lover and incessant reader, I love good independent bookstores. Whenever I’m near one, my inner compass points in that direction. I find bookstores incredibly romantic, wandering the aisles, looking through stacks of books to read, coming across books I remember reading and remembering where I was in my lif…
