Joe - Thank you for your comment. It's really been a great journey and you've always been there with a kind word and your support. I appreciate that a lot.

Tung - It was great meeting you last week and I'd love to continue our conversation. Public Health is an issue of crucial importance, especially in cities and anything I can do to help that conversation, I'd love to. Can you email me with contact info for the people mentioned above?

sloane:

i've been trying, and i admit not as hard as i could, to persuade a major program at louisiana public health institute to reach out to you while you are in town. the louisiana campaign for tobacco free living. this is a substantial and funded program. through legislation they receive a portion of taxes levied on cigarettes. their successful history since i started working with them in an IT capacity (one program of many at lphi) i have been lead to understand is a result of successful media campaigns. however it seems that a greater effort is underfoot. in the form of community organizing, tfl has been refining it's interventions. i didn't come to realize this until i started involving myself in this kind of work with the social entrepreneurs of new orleans and the vietnamese american young leaders association of new orleans . now tfl is beginning to formalize it's use of social media. i hope their story is of interest to you. at the beginning of next week, tfl will have most of it's managers in the new orleans office. will you have time to hear their struggles? to find out more please contact the director, Ashley Ross or associate director Rosalind Stewart .

you are an inspiration and affirmation,

Incredible story, Sloane. It's good to hear the back story on what you're doing because there were so many days when I read your tweets and asked: what the hell? How is she doing this? Why is she doing this?

Now I know!

Keep it up. Wish I was smart as you were at 29 to do some of the things you're doing. You just don't have many chances to, believe it or not.

BTW, thanks for including my blog on your roll. Makes my skin crawl a bit that I'm just below Lucy's but I'll live with it.
